Life Without Limits

With the right attitude and faith in God, you can do anything.  That is the premise behind Nick Vujicic's self-help auto-biography Life Without Limits.

Vujicic was born in 1982 in Brisbane, Australia.  A happy and, for all intensive purposes, healthy baby boy, Vujicic was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a disorder that would cause him to live without any arms or legs, only two little feet with two toes on his left foot.  Despite his odd appearance, he was a very happy child, until he grew old enough to start attending school.  The ridicule from other kids ofter weighed heavy on the young boy, and would continue to do so throughout his school days.  Plagued with depression and questioning the faith he was brought up with, he began contemplating suicide, but despite how dark he would feel at times he couldn't ever bring himself to do it.

A family move up the coast of Australia, then across the Pacific to the Los Angeles area for a few months, and then back to Australia left Vujicic without a core group of friends as he made his way through high school.  When a school janitor asked Nick to tell his story to a lunchtime Christian group comprised of his peers, Nick moved his audience to tears.  After that he began receiving invitations to speak to local youth groups, which lead to more invitations to speak to schools and churches.  The invites continued to pour in until Nick realized that he had found his calling, and God's purpose, for his life.

Today Vujicic travels the globe speaking to groups of all different sizes and demographics.  He tells them his story and the trials he faced as a young man growing up without limbs.  He preaches about the power that having a positive attitude can have in someone's life and to always believe in yourself.  He speaks on getting back up after being knocked down by life, and even provides a powerful demonstration of getting back up to a standing position after starting flat from the ground.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants a new outlook on life or a reminder to keep pushing onward when times get tough.

Your body.  Your training.
