This Past Week (12/26-1/1)

This past week was my testing and recovery week before the start of SMS² on Monday, January 3. I tested my squat on Monday at hit 415 for 2 reps. On Wednesday I tested my bench and hit 275 for 2 reps and then 225 for 9 reps. Because of the hypertrophy work I have been doing for the last two months, I was not surprised that my strength levels decreased. I fully expect to surpass where I was at back at the end of October within a few months.

Tuesday I did some recovery cardio and on Saturday I ran sprints up the parking ramp next to my apartment building.

I got a pair of Vibram FiveFingers for Christmas, so I started wearing those this past week. I squatted with them on Monday and they were very comfortable and I felt very stable squatting in them. I also wore them around during the day a lot while at work. If you enjoy the feeling of being barefoot or enjoy training while being barefoot, I highly recommend purchasing a pair of these shoes to wear.

Outside of work, I have continued my heavy studying for the CSCS exam, which I am still planning on taking in March, if not sooner. I also found a raw milk distributor in the Chicago area, so I made a trip there on Saturday and picked up my first two gallons of raw milk since leaving Williams. Between that and the fifty pounds of grass-fed beef in my freezer, I am fully confident that I will be making enormous strength gains in the upcoming months.

Also, on Saturday I wrote my 90-day wonder for the first quarter of 2011. If you don't know what a 90-day wonder is, read my article "The Power of the Pen" on the articles page of my website. After that I wrote five year-long goals that I want to accomplish in 2011.

That's all for this past week. Now it's time to go live this one.
